Description:
The Word of God is the most important and incredible book anyone can study. It is the only book that can bring life to the lost and dying world. In this course the student will learn how it is organized, how to effectively study it, its importance, usage and meaning. This is a powerful foundational course.
I. Rationale
All believers, but especially the Bible College student must become fully familiar with how to study the Bible – God’s Word. The student must have a clear and comprehensive understanding of the Bible.
II. Prerequisites
A. Must have a born again experience and a desire to study God’s Word.
B. This is an entry level Bible College course.
III. Program Objectives and Related Specific Objectives
A. Cognitive

The student will gain a thorough understanding of how the Bible has come into being in its present form.
a. From the review of the text. Introduction to Bible Study. -
The student will learn the various methods of Biblical study for devotional and teaching purposes.
a. Through the activities of actual study found in the text.
b. Through word study assignments.
B. Performance

The student will be able to teach others what he has learned.

The student will have a firm understanding for Biblical study methods that will enable him to do objective Bible study on his own.
IV. Preassessment
A. The student must write a brief paper on course goals.
V. Instructional/Learning Alternatives
A. The student will read the texts in their entirety.
B. The student will answer all the questions found in the text Understanding the Bible, by Dr. Thomas Clark.
C. The student will complete the Study Guide for the text An Introduction to Bible Study, by Dr. Stan DeKoven.
D. The student will complete one of each type of study presented at the end of the text Fresh Manna: An Introduction to Bible Study, by Dr. Stan DeKoven.
E. The student will write a 5–7 page paper on “The Importance of the Word of God”.
F. All work must be typed and received by the instructor in a timely manner.
