COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course examines the biblical perspectives on God’s plan and purposes for humanity and how God, through His love and grace, helps believers develop a Christ-like personality through stages of spiritual growth.

I. RATIONALE:
There is a need for Christians to understand the principles of God’s purpose for them and His plan for their growth in Him. Bible teaching must go beyond facts and figures, addressing the crucial matter of developing Christian character.

II. PREREQUISITES:
A. None

III. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES AND RELATED SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
A. Cognitive:

1. The student will develop an understanding of God’s purpose for each child of God.

2. The student will understand the primary theological/doctrinal foundation for Christian living.

3. The student will develop a systematic view of biblical theology from a discipleship perspective.

B. Performance:

1. The student will be able to teach others what they have learned.

2. The student will be able to apply the stages of healing and wholeness in the Christian community.

3. The student will develop the skills needed to disciple other Christians.

4. The student will be able to develop a strategy for living a compassionate life in relation to local church life and ministry.

IV. PREASSESSMENT:
A. The student will write a short account of their salvation experience and how it came about.

V. INSTRUCTIONAL/LEARNING ACTIVITIES:
A. The student will read the text in its entirety.
B. The student will complete the Study Guide.
C. The student will answer the questions for Discussion/Meditation on pages 36, 56, and 67. (Answers must be a minimum of one paragraph and a maximum of one-half page. These answers must demonstrate the student’s complete grasp of the subject.)
D. The student will write detailed teaching notes for each lesson. These notes should expand or expound upon the material in the text (e.g., by including cross-references, additional teachings, or illustrations relevant to the lesson). These notes are intended to help the student teach the course to others.
E. The student will write a 5–7 page paper on a theme of their choice, selected from the material in the textbook.
F. All work must be typed and submitted to the instructor in a timely manner.
