COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course explores the fundamental foundation of Christian belief in the area of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Orthodox Christian truths will be taught in detail and are presented as prerequisites for a dynamic Christian life.

I. RATIONALE:
The current interest in the person and work of the Holy Spirit in the church has produced significant conflicts in doctrinal beliefs. The ministerial student needs to be fully aware of this important area of study.

II. PREREQUISITES:
Dynamic Christian Foundations – RS101

III. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES AND RELATED SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
A. Cognitive:

1. To understand the teaching of the Word of God concerning the gifts of the Holy Spirit and to cultivate respect and reverence for the Holy Spirit as revealed in Scripture, through reading, lectures, and assignments.

2. To understand more fully the relevancy of the Holy Spirit to contemporary life.

B. Performance:

1. To be able to discuss problems of theology and practice in an atmosphere of faith and candor, as related to dispensational teaching and the modern charismatic movement.

2. To be able to develop teaching or preaching outlines on the person and work of the Holy Spirit in the context of Scripture and in relation to His work in the church.

IV. PREASSESSMENT:
A. The student will write a brief paper about their course goals.

V. INSTRUCTIONAL/LEARNING ACTIVITIES:

1. The text must be read in its entirety.

2. The student will complete the student study guide.

3. The student will write detailed teaching notes on each chapter of the textbook.

4. The student will write a 5–7 page term paper on the subject matter of the textbook.

5. The student will complete a comprehensive exam based on the text.

A. The student will reread their course goals and comments by the instructor.

VII. POST ASSESSMENT:
A. The student will reread their brief paper on course goals and relate them to the actual content of the course.
B. The student will complete the course instructor evaluation.

A. The student and the instructor will be in correspondence during the course to clarify or resolve any problems.
