Thanksgiving, praise, and worship are vital for the New Testament Christian. Worship is dynamically illustrated and taught in this course. Emphasis on whom we worship and why is maintained throughout.

Worship is the central expression of the Christian’s relationship with God. A biblical understanding of worship is essential for effective ministry and personal spiritual growth, grounding the student in both its theological foundations and practical application in the church.

III. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES AND RELATED SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
A. Cognitive:

  1. To understand the who, when, where, how, and why of worship from a biblical perspective.

  2. To understand the historical development and methodology of worship in the Christian tradition.

  3. To develop an appreciation for the role and expression of worship in the life of the church.

B. Performance:

  1. The student will be able to develop teaching notes and outlines on the subject of praise and worship.

  2. The student will be able to teach others the biblical foundations for praise and worship.

IV. PREASSESSMENT:
A. The student must write a brief paper on course goals.

V. INSTRUCTIONAL/LEARNING ACTIVITIES:

  1. The textbook must be read in its entirety.

  2. The student will complete the study guide.

  3. The student will submit an acceptable 5-page term paper (typewritten) on any topic pertinent to the course.

  4. The student will complete the provided open-book exam.

VI. SELF-EVALUATION:
A. The student will reread the self-evaluation and comments by the instructor.

VII. POST ASSESSMENT:
A. The student will reread their brief paper on course goals.
B. The student will complete the course instructor evaluation.
